About Us
WhatWorked Teachers is a web service for teachers to carry out feasible, high-quality research into the impact of things that might improve outcomes on children’s results in tests. It guides you through each step of the research and completes all the statistical analysis for you. The platform only requires teachers to input anonymised test results before and after implementing an intervention and produces a report as soon as the final results are entered. The results will help other teachers see what has worked in other schools.
WhatWorked focuses on the innovative use of small-scale, mini-randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and aggregates the data from these trials into a cumulative meta-analysis evidence base. This method is both time-efficient and cost-effective, overcoming the traditional barriers of high costs and long timescales associated with educational research.
“Large-scale randomised trials are the most robust way to find out whether different educational interventions and approaches work, on average, for the schools, teachers and pupils involved. However, they take some time to set up and run and can be challenging for teachers to fit into the way that they usually work. Mini-RCTs, by contrast, aim to be quick to set up, to manage and to find out whether something works for you, as a teacher, and for your pupils so that you know whether it is worth doing in your school.”

As a company we are dedicated to bridging the gap between research, teachers, and EdTech by promoting evidence-based decision-making within the education sector. We aim to create a continuously updated global evidence base that supports teachers, school leaders, and intervention developers in making informed choices backed by the best available data.
